The Golden Key became Phi Theta Kappa's official emblem and the design for the membership pin. The Key is a golden slab, keyed at the top and bottom. Across the center of the slab is a black enamel band upon which three Greek letters appear, which are the initials of three mystic Greek words meaning phronimon (Phi), thumos (Theta), katharotes (Kappa) and meaning wisdom, aspiration and purity.

Welcome to Phi Theta Kappa at Columbia State!

Phi Theta Kappa is an international honors society for two-year schools. Columbia State’s chapter, Beta Kappa Theta, was charted in 2000 and has since grown to become a Five-Star Chapter! Membership into Phi Theta Kappa is limited to roughly the top 10% of students based on academic achievements.

Ê WOW! Ê

 Maury County Clean Up

The annual Maury County Clean Up Day encourages residents to take to the streets cleaning ditches and road shoulders of accumulated litter. Beta Kappa Theta chapter arrived at the school early Saturday, April 19, in hopes of a large turn out. With students, faculty, and staff present, over 20 people cleared the sections of Casey Lane, Hampshire Pike, and Rutherford Lane adjacent to the Columbia State Community College campus. Shane Hall, student and Phi Theta Kappa member, comments on the chill of a windy morning, “Brrr, trash picking machine.” A special thanks is given to all Maury County McDonalds’ for providing lunch to the volunteers.
